About:

Ornithopter Press was founded by Mark Harris in 2014 with the aim of highlighting contemporary poetry that runs counter to the mainstream. Based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the press puts out two to three books per year and seeks to amplify a broad range of perspectives and experience.

Ornithopter Press publishes individual poetry collections by contemporary authors, primarily perfect bound trade paperbacks that are widely distributed. The press occasionally publishes chapbooks that are limited to short runs. Production is by hand, and combines digital printing with acid-free recycled paper and original block prints on the front covers.

Calls for submissions are announced on the Submissions page, usually every year in the fall. Please note: Manuscripts must be received during an open reading period to be considered for publication.
